Terms of Service & Refund Policy

Effective October 14, 2026. These terms govern your use of learn.shortstopelectrical.com (the “Platform”), operated by Short Stop Electrical LLC (“we”, “us”), a Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) approved continuing-education sponsor. By creating an account or purchasing a class you agree to these terms.

1. Eligibility

The Platform offers L&I-approved continuing-education (CE) classes for holders of Washington electrician and electrical administrator certificates renewing under RCW 19.28 and WAC 296-46B-970. You must hold a Washington certificate, be at least 18, and provide accurate identity information. The classes are not trainee or apprenticeship education and do not count toward trainee hours. In-person basic education for apprentices and apprenticeship-program schooling are planned as separate offerings.

2. Your account and identity verification

You must register in your own legal name and provide your Washington certificate number, a mobile number for SMS verification, and photos of a government-issued photo ID and your Washington journeyman/administrator certificate card. We use these to verify that the person completing coursework is the enrolled student, as L&I requires for internet CE, and to keep sponsor records. One person per account. You are responsible for keeping your login confidential and for all activity under your account.

3. Classes, credit, and L&I reporting

Each class is a separate L&I-approved class with its own class number, modules, randomized final exam (pass at 75%, three attempts), and certificate. CE hours are credited only for classes you fully complete: all modules passed, final exam passed, and your completion certification submitted. We report completions to L&I through TERRS within 7 days of your completion date using the legal name and certificate number on your profile. We cannot report credit for a class you have already received credit for in the same renewal cycle, and we are not responsible for how L&I applies hours to your renewal.

Current classes: Washington Electrical Law & L&I Rules Update (RCW 19.28 / WAC 296-46B) (4 hrs, L&I #WA2026-641); NEC Applications: General Requirements, Wiring Methods, Grounding & Distribution (12 hrs, L&I #WA2026-640); Commercial & Industrial Applications, Special Systems, WA Amendments & Electrical Safety (8 hrs, L&I #WA2026-639); 2023 NEC Code Update: Changes in the Currently Adopted Code (8 hrs, L&I #WA2026-642).

Code-update class approvals are automatically revoked by rule when Washington adopts a new edition of the National Electrical Code. The 2026 NEC takes effect in Washington on December 31, 2026; the 2023 NEC Code Update class must be completed before that date to receive code-update credit.

4. Engaged-time tracking and automatic sign-out

Washington credits internet CE by classroom-equivalent clock hours. The Platform records engaged time only while a module is visible and you are actively interacting, credits time against a real server clock, and signs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity. These controls are conditions of our L&I approval and may not be bypassed.

5. Academic integrity policy

You must complete all modules, quizzes, and exams personally and without assistance. The following are violations:

Consequences. Any violation or attempted violation results in an immediate freeze of your account and forfeiture of all purchases, with no refund. No certificate is issued for the affected class, previously issued certificates may be voided, and completions will not be reported to L&I. We may report incidents to L&I where required. We keep logs of all quiz and exam attempts and time credits and review them.

6. Payments and refund policy

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars on the dashboard and charged at checkout through Stripe. Access to a class begins when payment is confirmed. Classes are digital content delivered immediately, so all purchases are final:

7. Course content

Course materials are provided for your personal CE study and are the property of Short Stop Electrical LLC. They summarize the National Electrical Code, RCW 19.28, WAC 296-46B, and related standards for educational purposes and are not legal advice; always rely on the adopted code text and the authority having jurisdiction for installations. Report suspected errors to the instructor; we correct and log content changes.

8. Availability, changes, and termination

We may update the Platform and these terms; material changes are posted here with a new effective date. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Class approvals have fixed L&I expiration dates; we will tell you if a class you own is expiring and when it must be completed.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Platform is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by Washington law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Platform is limited to the amount you paid us for the class concerned. We are not liable for licensing outcomes, lost income, or indirect damages.

10. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Questions: contact@shortstopelectric.com. See also our Privacy Policy.
